Purpose: To introduce students to the origins and functions of psychological testing by studying aspects such as technical and methodological principles: norms and the meaning of test scores, reliability, validity, item analysis; ability testing: individual tests, tests for special populations, group testing; personality testing: self-report personality inventories, measuring interests and attitudes, projective techniques; applications of testing: major contexts of current test use, ethical and social considerations in testing, and the practical application of tests.
