Prof Baijnath nominated to serve on the COL Board of Governors

Dr BE Nzimande, Minister of Higher Education and Training, has nominated Prof Narend Baijnath, Unisa’s Pro Vice-Chancellor, to serve on the prestigious Board of Governors of the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) for the period 2012 to 2015.

Prof Baijnath is currently spearheading an unprecedented change initiative towards a new organisational architecture that will see Unisa transition effectively into the digital age. The Minister indicated that Prof Baijnath, who has significant and extensive experience in the higher education landscape and is currently on the board of the Higher Education Quality Committee and the Academy of Science of South Africa, will add great value to the work of the COL.

The COL is an intergovernmental organisation formed by Heads of Commonwealth Government to encourage and facilitate the development and sharing of open learning and distance education knowledge, resources and technologies. Prof Baijnath is ideally suited to support the endeavours of the COL which represents almost one third of the world’s population. Congratulations Prof Baijnath.
