The University of South Africa and the United Cricket Board of South Africa launched a memorandum of agreement in Johannesburg today, Friday 31 March 2006.

The main focus of this Memorandum of Agreement is the building of capacity and skills development of the human resources of UCBSA.

The agreement also seeks to promote lifelong learning to ensure learner progression and labour mobility through the development of intellectual knowledge and practical knowledge.

Gerald Majola, UCBSA CEO, said: “South African cricket is very pleased to enter into this relationship with UNISA because most of our activities revolve around capacity building.

“The on-going transformation process of South African cricket makes it imperative that all our stakeholders have the skills to do the job at hand – be they administrators, players or support staff.

“We also are focused on providing holistic development of our players, especially those representing South Africa. UNISA will assist us greatly in giving these players life skills that go beyond the playing field.”
