Students gathered for the session

The Limpopo Region held the First Things First HIV counselling and testing session in partnership with HET, HEAIDS and HESA at the Library Centre in Polokwane. It was a day filled with motivational talks about real life challenges facing students all over the country.

“It is essential for people to know their status and to learn in a healthy environment” said Prof Rocky Ralebipi- Simela (Regional Director, Limpopo Region), as she officially launched the event. The campaign stressed the ABC motto for healthy living: Abstain, Be faithful, Condomise.

It was a fun-filled day as students and guests were entertained by gospel singer Ms Thanda Mavundla. Ms Mavundla also spoke about the concept of accepting the virus if one’s status is positive so that one can deal with life.

Speeches from various speakers eased the fear of testing which helped many students to undergo testing.
