Baijnath discussing the upcoming Chance 2 Advance initiative in Diepsloot The Chance 2 Advance programme is planning its largest community learning initiative to date. From 16 to 28 July 2012, the community of Diepsloot in Johannesburg will benefit from over 100 classes which are designed to cater for the specific learning needs of the township. On Friday 11 May 2012, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof Narend Baijnath visited Diepsloot to share the social mandate of Unisa with eager community members who participated in a 3-day intensive training programme on how to become Chance 2 Advance learning ambassadors. ![]() Prof Baijnath (Centre) with Diepsloot Chance 2 Advance learning ambassadors “Participants were beside themselves with excitement after meeting the Pro-Vice-Chancellor”, explained project manager Dr Genevieve James. She added, “Prof Baijnath’s visit and message of encouragement demonstrated Unisa’s commitment to ensuring that marginalised communities gain access to knowledge and have ample opportunity for learning and empowerment”.
