Unisa online - Unisa student launches his first book

Khayelihle Mkhize's quest for knowledge has amounted in his first published book

Khayelihle Mkhize (27) follows after his middle name Nhlakanipho, which when translated, means “intelligence”.  Born and raised in rural Mbumbulu, he was always a deep thinker as a boy with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Years later, little did he know, his quest for knowledge would amount to his first self-published book!

“Oh Yes You Can and Eight Keys to Progress” is a product of six years of hard work and dedication.  The book is based on principles of success and driven by the “I can” spirit, which Khayelihle wants to spread to every quarter of South Africa. Prof George Devenish of UKZN, a renowned constitutional law expert, wrote the foreword in the book.

The vibrant final year Unisa B Compt student said “My fascination with the world of knowledge, and having grown up not knowing my father, left me with a lot of unanswered questions about life.  This trained my mind to be curious. My mother, grandmother and aunts are my source of inspiration.  Not having much at home, made me realise that you can make it in life with the odds stacked high against you, as long as the will to succeed is there. Even though I grew up in a background where reading was not encouraged, with inadequate resources to achieve my dream, I created an atmosphere of success for myself. My philosophy is that you don’t need what you don’t have to achieve success”

Khaya says the bible played a major role in writing his book.  His book will be officially launched at Unisa, 230 Stalwart Simelane Street, Durban on 12 May 2012.  The book is available at R180 per copy and will be available at Adams & Co (Pty) Ltd and other selected book stores. For pre-orders and more information you can contact Khaya on 073 996 8890.
