media releases - Education College Dean to engage with educators in Kuruman

Unisa’s Executive Dean for the College of Education, Professor Kuzvinetsa Dzvimbo will engage with educators in Kuruman, Northern Cape during a Learner Orientation Workshop to be held at the Red Sands Country Lodge on Friday, 4 May 2012.

The workshop, organised jointly by Unisa and the Department of Education in the Northern Cape, is intended to provide a relationship-building platform for Unisa and the Northern Cape Education Department, create a conduit for information dissemination between the two parties as well as create a platform for Unisa to give effect to its community engagement mandate.

Amongst some of the issues to be deliberated on during the workshop are the following:

  • Scarce and critical skills in the country: What are the challenges?
  • Characteristics of the 21st century learner
  • Subject choice and subject combination.

Apart from the delegation from Unisa, led by Professor Dzvimbo, and local teachers, the workshop will also be attended by senior officials from the Northern Cape Education Department.
