Unisa online - Prof Abdulai touches base with Inoorero University in KenyaThe Unisa Graduate School of Business Leadership’s international outreach is in full steam as Prof David Abdulai visited Inoorero University (IU), formerly known as the Kenya School of Professional Studies (KSPS), from 21 to 24 April 2010. The visit was in line with the SBL’s internationalisation and outreach endeavours. Prof Abdulai was accompanied by Mr Sakaria Kone, the Internationalisation and Institutional Collaboration Officer at the SBL. They held a series of working sessions with the senior management of the IU to discuss areas of collaboration. It soon became clear that Inoorero Universitywill benefit from establishing a partnership with the SBL and that Inoorero University could serve as an entry point for the SBL into Kenya and neighbouring countries such as Uganda and Tanzania. Furthermore, the demand in Kenya for executive programmes, such as those offered by the SBL for their uniqueness in leadership training, could be of benefit to Inoorero University. The two delegations expressed the need to accelerate the conclusion of an agreement to operationalise the mutually beneficial partnership. The SBL team was then offered a tour of the facilities. Prof Abdulai observed that “the IU has the necessary infrastructure and could be a credible SBL partner. Our visit to Inoorero University was productive and offered a platform and opportunity for the SBL to strengthen its presence in East Africa. The Kenyan market is strategic due to its location as a hub for international organisations based in Africa and this partnership is pursued in this regard,” concluded Prof Abdulai after the visit.
