Moeketsi Letseka at the finish line
|
It was the case of "a masterful pace for the master ace" as Unisa Athletics Club Head Coach, Moeketsi Letseka, conquered the 33rd Medihelp Sunrise Monster 10 km race on Saturday 13 March 2010. He competed in the Masters Category (50-59 years) and won first place. His winning time of 48 minutes, 25 seconds demonstrates his athleticism and experience in racing on demanding terrain. The race is not called "the monster" for nothing.
The route is extremely gruelling. The route follows Dr Lategan Road, John Street, up the imposing Loveday Street, Leyds Street in the Muckleneuk area, up Herbert Baker Street in Groenkloof and back near Queen Wilhelmina Avenue. The route then follows along knee-jarring decline down Van Wouw on the way to the finish.
We take our hats off to Coach Letseka who, at the age of 52, made this punishing route look easy. |
