The World Society of Victimology (WSV) recently hosted the 2nd African Postgraduate Course of Victimology, Victim Assistance and Criminal Justice at Monash South Africa.
The course brought together 13 students and 15 internationally renowned experts in the fields of Psychology, Anthropology, Criminology, Criminal Justice, Victimology and Victim Assistance.
Three Psychology interns from Unisa were invited to attend the course along with our resident expert, Prof Juan Nel from UCAP. The course provided opportunities for students to spend time with the lecturers and benefit from their expertise. The course also provided opportunities for rich cultural experiences with excursions to the Apartheid museum and the Constitutional Court built into the programme.
The final day of the programme provided students with the opportunity to display their own insights into their chosen fields with a short presentation. The course concluded with a graduation ceremony.
Prof Nel and Angelo Fynn, one of the interns, were accorded the great honour of joining the WSV as part of the team of experts for the 26th International Postgraduate Course of Victimology, Victim Assistance and Criminal Justice to be held in Croatia in May 2010.
