Uyoth’ Iwenzani 2010 Campaign
As South Africa gears up to host the biggest soccer gathering ever to be held on the continent of Africa, the 2010 FIFA World Cup, we are proud to announce the involvement of the University of South Africa in this soccer spectacular.
On behalf of Unisa, the International Relations and Partnerships Directorate (IRPD), together with other Unisa stakeholders, will be coordinating a number of institutional activities in support of this event and capitalising on this event to promote and strengthen academic and cultural collaborative ties with our strategic partners from the Netherlands.
Unisa, together with our strategic collaboration partner, the Vrije Universiteit (VU), Amsterdam, will host soccer clinics and seminars before and during the FIFA World Cup at Unisa and selected Unisa regional centres. This initiative was first agreed upon in June 2009 following meetings held during the Unisa mission to the Netherlands led by the Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Prof Pityana. The initiative has received support from the South African Embassy in The Hague and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in South Africa. Click here for the report on the visit to the Netherlands.
In the next few weeks, the Unisa community will be updated and also invited to participate in the coordination of these events.
In the meantime, Unisa and our partners in Amsterdam call upon the Unisa community to gear up for the Unisa involvement in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Woza Soccer Friday --- Walala Wasala, Uyoth’ Iwenzani ngo 2010! |
