IODL hosts delegation from Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University
At a meeting held on 30 November 2009 between the Institute for Open and Distance Learning (IODL) and a delegation from the Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU), Thailand, it was decided that collaboration between the two institutions could be a viable option.
This initiative could include aspects such as staff exchange programmes, postdoctoral visits or exchange programmes, and the sharing of programmes and materials, including the possibility of building a strong partnership in collaborative research projects.
The STOU delegation included Prof Porphant Ouyyanont from the School of Economics; Prof Passawalee Nitikasetsoontorn, Deputy Director of the Institute for Research and Development; and Prof Wanna Sananpanichkul, the Vice-President for Network Development and International Affairs. The IODL staff members included Prof Dele Braimoh, the UNESCO Chair of ODL and Director of the IODL; Prof Ansie Minnaar, Postgraduate Coordinator at the IODL; Dr Mpine Makoe, the Coordinator of Staff Professional Development at the IODL; and Ms Santa Parsons, the IODL's Financial and Administrative Manager.
From the in-depth discussions at the meeting, it was clear that Unisa and STOU have many commonalities, which could usefully be explored for meaningful collaboration. |
