Unisa marketing team visits Swaziland and Mozambique
Marketers from Unisa, represented by Mr Madumo Rampedi, Mr Godfrey Tshikhudo (both from the Department of Corporate Communication and Marketing) and Ms Thembeka Ntuli (from the College of Human Sciences) visited Swaziland for a student recruitment drive and an exhibition in Maputo, organised by the Communication Academy for Development.
The drive, which started at the Mountain Inn in Swaziland, was aimed at current Unisa students, potential students, students from other institutions of higher learning and the public at large. The audience was addressed about Unisa career offerings, the ODL model and the new registration process. Approximately 300 people attended the event.
The Swaziland marketing drive was then followed by an exhibition in Maputo which took place at the exhibition hall in the Maputo shopping mall. The exhibition started with workshops, presentations and debates about challenges facing institutions of higher learning globally. This exhibition is marked as one of the biggest annual events in Maputo. More than 3000 people from all walks of life attended the exhibition which had 20 exhibitors from across the globe. The exhibition was attended by learners from various schools, the public and some local Maputo dignitaries.
Unisa was awarded with a certificate of attendance by the Minister of Science and Technology in Maputo. The show, which was attended by local and international exhibitors and marketers, was part of the broader Unisa marketing plan and strategy into Africa.
This event formed part of the university’s marketing plan, which aims to increase student numbers. Marketing drives are planned for Lesotho, Namibia, Botswana, Ethiopia, Mauritius and Kenya. |
