Robert Pearce handing over the signed MoA to Fritz van Dyk |
Late last year, the Unisa Library, represented by the Executive Director, Dr Mbambo-Thata, and the Sol Plaatje Municipality (Kimberley Public Library), represented by their Municipal Manager, Mr TF Mashilo, signed a Memorandum of Agreement.
During 2008, Unisa had 2 000 registered students in Kimberley. As Unisa does not currently have a library in the area, the Kimberley Public Library will be used to meet the needs of Unisa students. The Unisa Library, in turn, will provide electronic access to its Oasis catalogue, as well as its electronic reserves and electronic journals. In future, some prescribed books, recommended books and additional reading material will also be made available to these students. A courier service will also be established between the Unisa Library on the Muckleneuk campus and the Kimberley Public Library.
On 5 February 2009, Mr Robert Pearce visited the Kimberley Public Library to hand over the signed agreement. The agreement was received by Mr Fritz van Dyk, Kimberley City Librarian, on behalf of the Sol Plaatje Municipal Manager. |
