Unisa online - CC&M staff attend a Life Orientation educators' workshop

On 6 February 2009, the Tshwane University of Technology hosted a Life Orientation educators' workshop on its eMalahleni campus. Unisa was represented by Mr Godfrey Tshikhudo and Setlatjile-Mayishebe Setlatjile of Corporate Communication and Marketing, and by Prof Dele Braimoh, an expert in Open and Distance Learning. Prof Braimoh is the Unesco Chair of ODL and Director of the Institute for Open and Distance Learning at Unisa.

As the guest speaker at the event, Prof Braimoh spoke about "Comprehensive education and human resource development through ODL processes". He stressed the importance of open distance learning in teacher education and development, and spoke very passionately about the benefits accrued through the ODL model.

The workshopwas part of many information sessions initiated by the Department of Corporate Communication and Marketing to create awareness about ODL and the new Unisa registration process.

A total of 85 Life Orientation educators in the eMalahleni area attended the workshop. The workshop also prepared educators for the coming Career Exhibition planned for 26 to 29 May 2009 on the eMalahleni campus.
