North Eastern region launches its regional service charter
The North Eastern region recently launched its regional service charter.
The day started off with presentations by various units in which they highlighted their achievements and challenges in 2008, as well as plans for 2009. The afternoon was reserved for the launch of the service charter.
Before the unveiling of the charter, Mr Dire of the Marketing Department, led discussions on what a service charter represents, what quality service is and the background to the drafting of the regional service charter. Several pop-up banners and framed posters of the charter had been ordered before the event. Mr Paul Maminza, Acting Regional Director, then officially launched the charter by pulling up one of the pop-up banners.
An exciting feature of the launch was that all staff members signed a pledge to uphold the promises contained in the regional service charter. The signed pledge, together with the pop-up banners and posters, will be distributed to all offices in the region as a constant reminder to staff of their promise to deliver quality service in the region.
After the signing ceremony, staff members received a gift branded with the Unisa logo and a special slogan: "North Eastern Region: inspired to serve".
The serious proceedings were interspersed with poetry and drama by Unisa students. The highlight of this entertainment was a play entitled "Men abuse".
It was a memorable day which ended with a dinner at a top restaurant in Polokwane . Amid stiff competition, Mr Herman Entres was voted employee of the year for the region and Mr Entres received a floating trophy for his achievements.
