Unisa online - Unisa peer education HIV/AIDS training

Unisa peer education HIV/AIDS training

The Dean of Students, in conjunction with the Directorate: Student Affairs, Unisa's HIV/AIDS Institutional Programme and the Unit for Social Behaviour Studies in HIV/AIDS and Health (USBAH), facilitated a capacity-building training workshop for newly appointed Unisa HIV/AIDS peer educators.

Various interactive topics were covered, including basic information on HIV and AIDS, gender, stigma and discrimination, characteristics of a peer educator, and planning and conducting a peer education session. Different facilitators and experts engaged with the peer educators to enhance their understanding of being a peer education in the field of HIV and AIDS at Unisa. This training will be fully implemented in 2009.
