The aim of the Kingdom Conference, held this year on 26 September 2008, is to broadly look at different systems of governance (leadership), one of which is the Theocratic government system based on Christocentic principles. This system looks at how we as a Unisa community and other learning institutions can establish the right spirit of leadership which will influence all areas of life.

The guest speakers, Apostles Skhumbuzo Sangweni, Vincent Msmpudi and Kabelo Moroke, focused on the principles of theocratic governance. They spoke about the need to raise up leaders who are equipped to lead South Africa and other countries through their various political crises.

Prof Pieter Labuschagne, from the Department of Political Sciences, discussed various leadership systems, such as the traditional leadership system, the charismatic leadership system and the legal rational leadership system (democracy) which has been in operation for a number of generations.

"Our vision for 2009 is to work closely with Unisa and other institutions to bring about a healthy, peaceful and innovative society."
