The UNISA Music Foundation is proud to announce that the Soshanguve Youth Symphony Orchestra (SYSO) is in the process of being established. After many years of music literacy and instrumental tuition the students, some of whom who have passed the UNISA written and practical music examinations with distinction the time is ripe to forge the talents of the young violinists, cellists, brass and woodwind players into a real symphony orchestra.
Tuition mostly takes place during the weekends by tutors appointed and paid by the UNISA Music Foundation.
An aspiring young conductor, David Nkosi has been invited to the reigns of this fledgling orchestra. Nkosi has already studied conducting in Europe and is doing a symphonic conducting examination with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra in October with some examiners flying in from overseas.
