Unisa online - 176 students graduate from UNISA in Gaborone

This year 176 students graduated during UNISA’s graduation ceremony in Gaborone. The ceremony took place on 18 June 2008 in the Gaborone International Convention Centre.

During the ceremony Esther Kip received the degree Doctor of Literature and Philosophy. Ms Kip is currently a senior TP Programme Officer at the Botswana Ministry of Health. The title of her thesis is Factors influencing patients’ adherence to antiretroviral therapy in four selected health facilities in Botswana. Her promoter is VJ Ehlers and the joint promoter is Dr DM van der Wal.

Prof Mandla Makhanya, UNISA’s Pro Vice-Chancellor officiated.  Other members of UNISA’s management were:

Over 12 000 students to graduate this year

This year just over 12 000 students will graduate from the University’s five colleges during the autumn ceremonies which begin on 21 April and end on 30 June.

A total of 4 499 bachelor degrees, 2 320 honours degrees, 507 masters’ degrees and 35 doctorates will be conferred.  UNISA will confer 7 361 degrees in total and a further 4 797 diplomas.

Graduations will be held in Pretoria, Polokwane, Cape Town, Durban, Nelspruit, East London, Bloemfontein, as well as Harare, Gaborone and Mauritius.
