media releases - Thousands Graduates at UNISA ceremonies in durban

This year more than 2 500 students will graduate during the autumn graduation ceremonies held at the Exhibition Centre in Durban.

At the ceremonies held at 18:00 on 29 May and 10:00, 14:00 and 18:00 on 30 May a total of 1 306 students will receive their diplomas.

A further 1 226 students will receive their degrees at ceremonies at 10:00, 14:00 and 18:00 on Saturday 31 May.

During the ceremony held at 14:00 on Saturday, Jill Vera Veley Fardon will receive the degree Doctor of Education. Her thesis is entitled Gender in history teaching resources in South African public schools.

This year just over 12 000 students will graduate from the University’s five colleges during the autumn ceremonies which begin on 21 April and end on 30 June.

A total of 4 499 bachelor degrees, 2 320 honours degrees, 507 masters’ degrees and 35 doctorates will be conferred. Unisa will confer 7 361 degrees in total and a further 4 797 diplomas.

Graduations will be held in Pretoria, Polokwane, Cape Town, Durban, Nelspruit, East London, Bloemfontein, as well as Harare, Gaborone and Mauritius.
