The importance of exporting and international trade to a country's economy and to the growth of companies is well documented. Add to this the advantage South Africa has in terms of its weak currency, combined with the expansion generally being experienced in global trade, then companies should be encouraged to "go international'', as foreign markets offer tremendous opportunities for the astute international marketer.
This Programme in International Marketing will guide individuals and companies how best to take advantage of the opportunities offered by these growing foreign markets and to become an astute international marketer.

Registration requirements A National Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification or relevant experience. Students must have access to e-mail.

Students will be expected to complete an export research report for the module PPIM04-T (Practical exporting).
The emphasis of these topics is on the practical application of the theory and is suitable for any person interested in getting to grips with international business opportunities.
Evaluation and examination Students will be assessed on the strength of at least one assignment per module to be completed during the course of the twelve months. To qualify for the examination, students must obtain a minimum of 50% for the assignment.
Students' performance will be evaluated by means of a formal two-hour examination for each module. To pass a module, a student must obtain a minimum of 50% in the examination. A pass of 75% is considered a distinction.
Certificate On the successful completion of the four modules, students will be awarded a certificate by the University at an official certificate ceremony.
Credits and SAQA application
Language This course is offered in English only.
Teaching method The method of teaching is distance education by means of study guides, tutorial letters and assignments. Companies enrolling groups of students may consider group discussions.
Registration, commencing date and fees
- First intake: 22 January (registration takes place from 1 December until 21 January)
- Second intake: 16 July (registration takes place from 21 June May to 16 July)
Companies enrolling 30 or more students can negotiate alternative commencement dates more suitable to their needs and requirements.
The cost for the programme is R4 200 (or R1 050 per module) including study materials (excluding textbook), tuition and examination fees. The minimum amount payable on registration is R1 050 if only registered for one module. If registered for more than one module, then 50% of the total fees for the modules registered for must be paid at regisration.
Payment by cheque, postal order or credit card is accepted (see teh registration form). Learners may also deposit payment into Unisa's bank account (ABSA bank, account number 404874671). All payments to be made payable to Unisa. On receipt of your registration form you will be preliminary registered and a unique student number given to you. Thereafter, your payment is due.
