Research Partnerships
From 2008 to 2010 the YRU conducted research in collaboration with the Film and Publication Board and Vodacom.
The initial aims of the research project were:
- To measure the incidence of exposure to different forms of media and how and when they are used.
- Endeavour to understand the reasons why new media are used.
- To investigate the possible impact of new media on behavior as well as changes in attitudes and interpersonal relationships.
- To identify possible opportunities for new media education, the economy and communication in the context of a developing South Africa.
The present aims of the research project with Vodacom are:
- The impact of cellphones on the lifestyle and decision making of the youth
- Social media and E-learning
