What is the PCL Programme?

  • PCL is learning though working together, collectively and  collaboratively.
  • It can be any activity where a group of people share their  knowledge, experience, skills, competence and feelings.
  • PCL refers to small group learning that is managed and  run by students themselves with the purpose of improving  their chances of academic success.

Primary aims of PCL

  • Group interaction amongst distance learners facilitated by facilitators around issues of the subject content, and assignments.
  • Group interaction will take place with learners from specific subjects.
  • To ensure that learners are provided with an opportunity to discuss the subject content, prepare for examinations as well as prepare for assignments through group interaction.
  • Group discussions will be facilitated by facilitators supported by lecturers.
  • Ongoing study support
  • Assist learners to identify study problems and help them cope or channel them to appropriate services.
  • Help learners identify courses that can address problems like study skills, note taking and time management.
