Aim of the course: To equip the sport coach / educator in the educational setting with the knowledge and skills to apply the basic principles of sport management in an educational setting.
Target group: Any sport coach / educator in an educational setting or who is planning to become involved as a sport coach in an educational setting.

Being involved (or planning to become involved) in the coaching of sport to children/learners
Language medium: English
Duration: 1 (one) year
Registration dates: 3 December to 28 February
Full Course fee: R2 600-00 (An additional fee to be paid by students living outside the borders of South Africa). Fees for groups, depending on extra services required may be different

Course Content:
The contents of this course includes the following aspects: The principles of sport management, planning and organising management, leadership and controlling in management. It also deals with programme development and format, planning an event, event management, economic consideration and planning a tour. It further deals with creating a climate for effective communication, codes of behaviour in sport, managing facilities and developing human resources. Needs identification and assessment, dealing with parents and contracting volunteer coaches receives attention.
Nature of evaluation: Submission of assignments and a portfolio.
Workshop: A workshop will be offered depending on student numbers, the workshop will take place in Pretoria and/or at the regional offices of Unisa.
