The department focuses on research applicable to the work setting and factors that influence work behaviour. It recognises the interdependence of individuals, organisations as well as society. The impact of factors such as increasing government influences, growing consumer awareness, skills shortages, and the changing nature of the work force are considered as important.
Specific research focus areas are:
Action research in organisations (organisational diagnoses, organisational change and renewal),
Employee and organisational wellness,
Personality related behaviour.
The department received the following awards:
2000: The PMR Silver Arrow Award for the most reputed degree majoring in industrial and organisational psychology.
1998: The PMR Golden Arrow Award for the best institution offering industrial and organisational psychology.
