André obtained his BA (Public Administration) degree from Unisa in 1988. He completed the Senior Management Programme at the University of Pretoria in 1992. In 2004 he obtained his MPA degree from Unisa. His dissertation was “Die totstandkoming, ontwikkeling en funksionering van Metropolitaanse Munisipaliteite in Suid-Afrika, met spesifieke verwysing na die Stad Tshwane Metropolitaanse Munisipaliteit.” He is currently (from 2009) registered at Unisa for his DPA and envisages to complete it in 2014.

André was in local government (former City Council of Pretoria, now City of Tshwane Metro) for 23 years before he joined Unisa.

He joined Unisa in January 2006 and is currently a Senior Lecturer, is involved in various subjects/modules in the Department, and serves on various Departmental committees. He assisted the Centre for Business Management (“inside/outside work”) during 2009 – 2013.

André is supervisor/co-supervisor for Master degree students, of whom four have already graduated.

He has completed the Assessor and Moderator training.

He has read four papers at International Conferences, and has published four articles in accredited journals; one of which is in an international journal.
