Towards a gender-transformed African society. (Gender-transformed: gender sensitivity, inclusion, consciousness, awareness, social acceptance)
Mission
Promoting gender as a key advocacy catalyst in the transformation agenda in Africa through MIT (multi-, inter- and trans-disciplinary) research, tuition and community engagement.
Objectives
- Engage in MIT basic, essential and applied critical and transformative research in Gender Studies.
- Provide academic and development expertise for research, community engagement and postgraduate supervision in Gender Studies.
- Support the creation of innovative knowledge systems in Gender Studies and related fields as part of epistemological transformation.
Scope
Our theoretical scope includes three main streams of Gender enquiry, namely
- Feminism
- Masculinity Studies
- LGBTi (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual and intersex) Studies
