Welcome to the sub department of Musicology at Unisa
Musicology has been taught at Unisa as a distinct discipline since the late 1960s, and before that the department offered degree studies in music for many years. One of our early BMus graduates from the 1940s was the renowned choral composer Michael Moerane, the first black person to earn a BMus degree in South Africa. In 2002 the Department of Musicology amalgamated with Art History and Visual Arts.
