Closer research cooperation with the Zijlstra Centre at the Vrije University Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) is on the cards! Prof Kobus Wessels, Head: CEMS Office of Graduate Studies and Research utilised his incentive funding for NRF rated researchers to visit, amongst others, the Zijlstra Centre at the VU Amsterdam.
He discussed possible collaborative initiatives with members of the management team of the Centre, Prof Goos Minderman and Prof Hans Bossert. These initiatives include mentoring of young CEMS academics as part of the VisionKeepers Programme and collaborative research as part of the Visiting Professor’s Programme.
Prof Wessels is especially enthusiastic about the lessons to learn for CEMS’ Community Engagement Research from the innovative community-based research done by Kim van Eijck, Pieter Veen and Clement van de Klooster on the creation of public value and the value of the so-called “public controller”. He envisages joint research projects and co-publications between CEMS researchers and colleagues at the Zijlstra Centre which will contribute to the scholarly and community impact of the research done within CEMS.
