media releases - Unisa to treat "the Arch" on his 75th birthday

Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu will be given a special treat for his 75 th birthday.

Unisa’s Library and the Desmond Tutu Diversity Trust will be hosting a function to celebrate Archbishop Tutu’s 75 th birthday in the atrium of the library on 6 October at 14:00.. The staff of the Unisa Archives have prepared an exhibition in honour of him and Jonathan Shapiro (aka the cartoonist Zapiro) has generously agreed to donate one of his cartoons to present to the Archbishop as a gift.

Professor Gerrie Lubbe, representing the Trust, will act as the master of ceremonies and Dr Judy Henning, Chief Operations Officer of the Library, will make a short welcoming address. Professor Pityana has kindly agreed to pay tribute to the Arch's long and varied service to the country.
