The Embassy of Spain in Pretoria and Pim Broere Promotions provided no reasons for this cancellation.
However, the performance of all four Mozart flute quartets by Helen Vosloo (flute), Suzanne Martens (violin), Jeanne-Louise Moolman (viola) and Peter Martens will still take place as announced in the Unisa Conference Hall on Sunday, 18 June at 16:00. We are delighted to announce a bonus concert on our schedule by the celebrated Fitzwilliam String Quartet from the United Kingdom in the Unisa Conference Hall on Sunday, 16 July at 16:00. This ensemble is regarded as one of the greatest string quartets in the world. They worked with Shostakovich in the 1970's and their recording of his complete quartets was voted one of the top 100 CD's of all time. Their programme in Pretoria will include Mozart's popular and evergreen Eine kleine Nachtmusik, Shostakovich's String Quartet no.6 and a new piano quintet by South African composer, Michael Blake.
