media releases - A top journalist to graduate at UNISA7 October 2005 A top journalist and writer will graduate at the University of South Africa on Monday 10 October 2005. Mr Jameson Maluleke, a senior journalist at The Citizen newspaper will receive a Master’s Degree in Sociolinguistics at a ceremony to be held at the University’s Muckleneuk Campus in the ZK Matthews Great Hall at 18h00. Mr Maluleke’s fondness for books started in 1977 when he was employed at UNISA as a painter and later as a security guard. The learning environment inspired Mr Maluleke to pursue his studies and as a result got his matric in 1980. He has published five books as author and co-author. The first book -N’wana wa Tinhlalu ( Abandoned Children)- was published while Mr Maluleke was working towards his junior degree in 1980. He also translated the world-acclaimed Cry the Beloved Country of Alan Paton into XiTsonga. Mr Maluleke, who received his Honours degree from Unisa in 2000, is a sought-after subject expert and usually present papers at seminars and conferences in South Africa and abroad. The ceremony is part of the University’s Spring Graduations where over 2 000 students will receive their degrees in Pretoria, Durban and Cape Town.
