media releases - Unisa strike is overThe University of South Africa (Unisa), the National Education, Health and Allied Workers Union (NEHAWU) and the Academic and Professional Staff Association (APSA) reached a settlement on the salary dispute on Friday evening (19 March 2013), thus bringing an end to the four-day strike by Unisa employees. The parties agreed on a 7 % salary increase. As a result of the wage dispute resolution, it is expected that all striking employees will return to work on Monday, 22 April 2013. All Unisa campuses will operate normally and all services to students and other stakeholders will be fully reinstated. The university management also took a decision to extent the application period, which was scheduled to close on 19 April 2013, to the end of April 2013.
