media releases - Dr Essop Pahad to speak at Unisa

Former Minister in the Presidency and incumbent Editor-in-Chief of The Thinker Magazine, Dr Essop Pahad, will speak at a round table seminar hosted by the Department of Public Administration and Management at Unisa this week. Dr Pahad will speak on ‘Accountability and Electoral Reform’.   

The debate on electoral reform is not new and has been taking place since the adoption of the proportional representation list system. Lately, it has been further fuelled by proponents calling for greater accountability from the government of the day.

The round table is a continuation of seminars and colloquia held by the Department of Public Administration and Management aimed at facilitating dialogue and discourse on national and international issues.

The respondents at the seminar will include representatives from the Human Rights Commission (HRC), the Mapungubwe Institute for Strategic Reflection (MISTRA), the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) and the Unisa Department of Political Science.
