media releases - Unisa to hold 2013 Research and Innovation WeekThe University of South Africa (Unisa) will hold the 2013 Annual Research and Innovation Week from 11 to 15 March 2013. Hosted by Unisa’s Research and Innovation department, the event will bring together local and international experts and thought leaders to share expert knowledge in themed sessions over five days and bring unique insights to achieving excellence, innovation and leadership in research. Dr Rob Adam, the Group Executive: Nuclear at the Aveng Group is the keynote speaker. His address will be on the topic: ‘Aligning science with national priorities: Experiences in South Africa’. Unisa’s Vice Principal: Research and Innovation, Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng will chair the opening session, with Unisa Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Narend Baijnath delivering the welcome address. Amongst some of themes to be discussed during the week’s sessions are the following: - Research and innovation possibilities with the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) Africa Project - Archie Mafeje Research Institute - Rethinking Africa from Africa : Theory, epistemology and methodology - Open Distance Learning: Innovating access in higher education - Management of democratic elections in Africa For a full programme of the event, please click here.
