media releases - Unisa congratulates Matric Class of 2012

The University of South Africa (Unisa) proudly joins the rest of the country in congratulating the matric class of 2012 for the improved national matric pass rate.

The university specifically takes off its hat to all the top achievers across the length and breadth of South Africa, especially in science and mathematics.

“We at Unisa take particular pride in the fact that, despite the challenges faced by the sector last year, our learners, teachers and education administrators rose above these challenges and produced a pass rate deserving of praise. We are hopeful that those who will follow in their footsteps will emulate and exceed this example, and that the 2012 matriculants will take the same spirit and resilience into their chosen tertiary fields, said Unisa Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mandla Makhanya.

Prospective students wishing to study through Unisa can apply during the second semester application period, which runs from 02 to 19 April 2013. Enquiries in this regard can be made at Infoservices@unisa.ac.za.
