media releases - Unisa to host the 13th Southern African universities gamesThe University of South Africa (Unisa) will host the 13th Southern African university games from the 3rd to the 7th of December 2012. The inter-university games are held annually under the auspices of the Southern African University Staff Sport Association (SAUSSA) with the objective of fostering good relations amongst staff members from the various SADC universities through free interaction in sport. Established in 1999, SAUSSA currently boasts membership from Unisa itself, the Universities of North West (South Africa), Science and Technology (Zimbabwe), Lesotho, Swaziland, Chinhoyi University of Technology (Zimbabwe), Botswana, Limpopo (South Africa), Zambia, Walter Sisulu (South Africa), Namibia, Eduardo Mondlane (Mozambique), Malawi and Zimbabwe. The 13th leg of the games will see participants competing in sporting codes such as soccer, athletics, volleyball, netball, tennis, table tennis, pool and darts. The media is invited to attend the opening ceremony of the SAUSSA games to be held at the ZK Matthews Great Hall, Unisa Main Campus, at 08:30 on Monday, 3 December 2012; as well as the various games.
