media releases - Presidency to announce the hosting of the Commonwealth Youth Wor

The Presidency of the Republic of South Africa, in partnership with the Commonwealth Africa Regional Centre, University of South Africa (Unisa) and the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) will be hosting an international conference on the Education and Training of Youth Workers in 2013. The purpose of the conference is to engage various public, private, academic and diplomatic stakeholders on the importance of capacity building for youth workers.

A launch will be held under the theme, “A reflection on the journey towards recognition of youth work as a profession “to create awareness and engage key stakeholders prior to the conference scheduled for the first quarter of 2013.

Objectives of the launch are to: Celebrate Africa Youth day; raise awareness of the Commonwealth Youth Week; create awareness and hype on the soon-to-be held Commonwealth Youth Work Conference; obtain buy-in and support for the CommonwealthYouth Work Conference from the international community, development partners, corporate, civil society, and government sectors.
