media releases - Public Protector to elucidate the role of the citizenry in expos

The Public Protector, Ms. Thuli Madonsela will hold a conversation with the Pretoria Alumni Chapter of the University of South Africa (Unisa) on Tuesday, 16 October 2012.

She will elucidate to the Alumni the role that the South African public can and should play in the fight against corruption in the country; under the topic: “What role should the citizenry play in exposing corruption and maladministration: particularly in view of allegations of intimidation and victimisation of the whistleblowers?”

Unisa has deemed such a conversation with the protector pertinent, given that its Alumni consist of professionals who contribute to the development of society in their respective professional and social circles.

“Our Alumni are confronted daily by the issues of corruption in their professional and social lives; hence it is imperative for us to provide such platforms so that they are informed and empowered to confront these issues” said Unisa Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mandla Makhanya.
