media releases - Unisa Centre for Early Childhood Education

It will be the teachers who will be in the classroom tomorrow (Friday) 3 February, when the Executive Dean of Unisa’s College of Education visits the Unisa Early Childhood Centre of Education (UCECE).

Tomorrow will be a red-letter day, as the new term has settled in and Professor Kuzvinetsa Dzvimbo, will be paying a visit to talk to staff and interact with the children.

UCECE recently moved under the umbrella of the newly established College.  The premises have undergone a facelift to provide an exciting and stimulating environment for the 129 youngsters between the ages of 3 months to 6 years in their care.

Based on the Sunnyside Campus, the Centre encourages participation by the children and has a curriculum that caters for all the children’s learning and developmental needs. UCECE is also a research site for improving early childhood education in South Africa and the rest of the continent.  Large play areas and adequate equipment is provided for the older children (4 0 6 years) in a homely set-up.  Toddlers from 18 months to 3 years of age have sufficient space to play and enjoy the care and safety in the centre.  The babies are in a quiet environment under the watchful eyes of their careers.
