media releases - Unisa to kick start Research and Innovation Week

The latest trends and developments in the field of research and innovation will be in the spotlight when Unisa kick starts the annual Research and Innovation Week on 12 March 2012. This event will be in the form of several parallel sessions held at both the Unisa Main Campus in Pretoria and the Florida Campus until 15 March 2012.

It will be attended by high profile research experts and leaders from South Africa, Africa and the world, who will share research and innovation ideas, knowledge and expertise on topical issues such as research leadership, nanotechnology, biotechnology, intellectual property rights, research ethics and integrity as well as access to research and development funding; amongst others.

Unisa will also use the occasion of the Research and Innovation Week to host the following significant events:

  1. Monday, 12 March 2012 - The opening of the new anthropological exhibition in the Museum of Anthropology and Archaeology. The title of the exhibition is ‘Ritual in Everyday Life’.
  2. Thursday, 15 March 2012 - The launch of the book ‘Roots and Routes: The Karretjie People of the Great Karoo-, Marginalisation of a South African first people, authored by Professor Mike de Jongh (Unisa) and published by Unisa Press. 
  3. 15 March 2012 - The Principal and Vice Chancellor’s Research and Innovation Awards dinner
