media releases - Unisa's seminar to promote African intellectualismThe seminar that will be held this Thursday at Unisa will look into the promotion of African intellectualism which is part of the vision of the university’s Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Prof Mandla Makhanya. Prof Makhanya will deliver a keynote address and other speakers will include Ms Futhi Mthoba, President of Business Unity South Africa; Prof Ebrima Sall, Executive Secretary: Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA) and member of the Board of World Social Sciences Forum; and Miss Liepollo Phelo, Director: Policy and Advocacy, The Trade Collective and Four Rivers. The primary intention of the seminar is to launch and accentuate the importance of African, intellectual engagement with the contextual, knowledge, socio-political, economic, ecological, religious and developmental issues of South Africa and Africa today. The seminar is part of the inauguration and investiture of the university’s Principal and Vice-Chancellor. The media is invited to attend the inauguration, investiture and the seminar.
