Relevant and stimulating workshops offered at Unisa this month for the first time

Your Chance to Advance – 51 relevant and stimulating workshops offered this month for the first time.

Unisa will be presenting for the first time a Chance to Advance programme aimed at grass roots communities as well as all members of the public who wish to improve their knowledge and skills. Beginning on 31 January and ending on 12 February, the programme will offer workshops at very affordable prices – some of the programmes will cost 80% less than the normal fee. There are no entry requirements.

Under the category of Social Justice, Development and Transformation, among the selection are: Community Profiling, Development Project Management, the issue of housing, visiting sites of importance and social justice in the inner city.

The category The World of Work, Education and Careers Selection are Preparing for the Working World, Balance Work and Studies, Career Planning, Business Proposal Writing, Becoming a Language Interpreter Improving Human Performance in Schools and Market Research. In addition, on request, there are two programmes for which there is no cost: the first is aimed at schools to encourage learners to read, and the second shows learners the riches of our museums by means of exciting presentations.

The Science, Maths and Technology Section includes an Introduction to Astronomy with a viewing evening, Maths gives you the edge, Harnessing the Power of E-communication, Social Media in Business and Learning, as well as two innovative workshops hosted by Apple technology.

Personal Growth and Development offers, among others, a programme on the Art of Public Speaking, and What Makes a Good Parent which includes a strength finder assessment.

Lifestyle programmes include how to Create an Organic Food Garden, Wise-up on renting or owning a flat or townhouse, Budgeting, Safety Consciousness, Health and Wellness and classes offered by Virgin Active that include Yoga, V-boxing and Pilates.

There is also a section on Creative Arts where participants can learn about Radio Production, Cinematography, Photography, Stagecraft, and an opportunity to discover your inner artist.
