Submission of abstracts and articles

Selection of contributions will be done according to the following criteria: Relevance to the conference theme

Clarity of purpose and method

  • Significance, originality or potential usefulness of the content of the proposal
  • Compliance with technical requirements

Submission of Abstract

Abstracts should be submitted electronically (by e-mail), in MS Word format on the abstract Submission form to the conference organiser at the following e-mail address: Petra Lawson at conferencepl@gmail.com

Please note:

We only accept abstracts sent by e-mail on the submission form. Even if accepted, no abstract will be included in the Book of Abstracts if full payment for registration has not been received by 20 November 2012

Guidlines and Instructions for Abstracts

  • The title should be in Bold and Italic Arial, 14pt and the name(s) of the author(s), department(s), institution(s) and e-mail address(es) in regular Arial 11pt
  • Full contact details, postal address, e-mail address, telephone number(s) and institutional affiliation of authors must be given Presentations will be limited to 20 minutes plus a 10 minute question/discussion session
  • A poster session will be scheduled on the programme
  • Use MS Word, Arial-11pt, 1.5 line spacing
  • The maximum length is 300 words including keywords and phrases
  • A conference sub-theme for which the paper should be considered must be indicated on the abstract submission form
  • The abstract submission form and the registration form are separate documents

Contributions on the Conference Theme

The SAERA conference is part of an initiative to bring the different educational research organisations in South Africa together under one umbrella structure. The conference is being supported by a number of education organisations in South Africa

The programme will include:

  • Presentations of papers (20min) followed by a discussion (10min)
  • Poster presentations (30min) in-depth discussion, exchange of ideas and opinions

A detailed programme will be announced once it has been finalised

Guidlines and Instructions for Full Articles

Participants interested in submitting full articles of their proposed presentations at SAERA 2013 for inclusion in a refereed Conference Proceedings Publication may send such articles to: Prof. C.C. Wolhuter Charl.Wolhuter@nwu.ac.za

Articles must be in the following format:

Oxford University Press is considering publishing the proceedings. One of the conditions for this is that the conference book be launched at the time of the conference. In order to achieve this delegates whose abstracts are approved and who would want their papers to be published in the conference book, will be asked to submit full papers by 25 October 2012.
