Information desk

The Information Desk staff provide answers to quick queries.

For subject searches they assist clients with instruction, advice and guidance in order to ensure that the best use is made of all the electronic and other information sources and that relevant and sufficient information is retrieved.

General reference queries from remote users can be sent to the Ask Us electronic reference desk. To enable us to help users as efficiently as possible, these requests should be as specific as possible.

Please note that certain guidelines apply to the workstations in the Information area.

Access to the Library's computer catalogue is available

Clients with special needs may ask for assistance at the desk or phone +27 12 429-3206.

Subject databases and multi-media workstations are available.

Training in the use of the online Library catalogue and subject databases is provided.

Ready reference works and University calendars may be consulted at the desk.

New books are displayed and may be borrowed.

Thirty lockers are available for the use of clients in the Main Library. These lockers are available free of charge for short-term use and can be locked.

Clients wanting to make use of a locker can arrange this at the Information Desk.

No advance bookings can be made. Lockers are allocated on a first come, first served basis every day.
