INFORMATION FOR CONTRIBUTORS

Analytical contributions in the form of articles, research reports, rejoinders to debates, book reviews and opinions/viewpoints are welcomed, and will be considered for publication.

All contributions must be typed in double spacing on only one side of A4 paper, and should be submitted to the Editor in three hard copies, together with an electronic copy on stiffy. The word-processing package used, should be indicated clearly.

Contributors should provide their full names, institutional affiliation, postal address, fax number and e-mail address on a separate page.

Articles must include references and a list of sources consulted. Reference techniques and bibliographical details should be based on the Harvard system. Examples -

Contributions should not exceed 8 000 words.

All contributions (book reviews excluded) should include an Abstract in English not exceeding 250 words in length.

Book reviews should be accompanied by the dusk jacket of the book and will be returned to the contributor. Reviews should include full bibliographic details including the publisher, hard or soft cover (Hb or Pb) and the number of pages. The following is an example -

Massie, R K 1997. Loosing the bonds: the United States and South Africa in the apartheid years. New York: Nan A Talese Publishers. Pb. 896 pages.

Contributions must be accompanied by a covering letter in which the author(s) state(s) that the contribution has not been published elsewhere or is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, and will not be submitted for consideration elsewhere while considered for publication in Politeia or until the contribution has been withdrawn from consideration by the author(s).

Politeia is an accredited journal with the Department of Education in South Africa and therefore contributions will be submitted to local and/or international reviewers for evaluation before accepted for publication.

The editors reserve the right to edit the contributions accepted for publication.
