Prof Z Dlamini
My research interests include characterization of genes involved in cancer and apoptosis with a focus on the novel ubiquitin-like DWNN (Domain With no Name), and proteins involved in ceramide signaling. I am also involved in screening plant extracts for anti-cancer activity by regulation of splicing and this is a collaborative project between my laboratory at University of South Africa, University of Bristol (United Kingdom), I also have a Freie Universität Berlin (Germany) collaborative project looking at the angiostatic/anticancer effect of South African medicinal plants. The overall aim of this research is the identification and translation of novel and existing biomarkers into clinical practice for the early detection and treatment of cancer.
