Inspired towards Science, Engineering and Technology (I-SET)
This Unisa Community Engagement project is aimed at inspiring young people and their communities’ interest in Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) through Lego Robotics. I-SETs’ focus is on the training of a community of coaches, mentors and leaders in setting up and promoting teams, building and programming robots and teaching the learners how to do research. Learners gain valuable employment and life skills, preparing them for higher education and the work environment in the 21st century.

Programme in Household Food Security (The OER course materials are still under development and will be linked here once available. Watch this space!)
This programme equips individuals who wish to become household food security facilitators with the skills that they can use to help empower their communities through improved food security status, health and nutrition and thus contribute to integrated rural development. The project was funded by the WK Kellogg Foundation and the programme was developed in collaboration with SAIDE.

Econ Tutor
Econ Tutor provides over 240 video resources for economics teaching and learning and has achieved some 400 000 views.

Introduction to new Media (Chapter)
Prof Petrus Potgieter contributed a chapter to the text book New Media in the Information Society (2011). His 2009 draft of the chapter: Introduction to new Media is available under the Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 Unported License. This chapter, along with other works by Prof Potgieter, can also be accessed from his website.

Information and telecommunications regulations and trends (Study Materials)
Prof Petrus Potgieter has developed study materials on  Information and telecommunications regulations and trends at Honours level which is released under the GnuFDL license (please note the terms). This interesting project  is no longer under active development, but the work from 2008-2010 are available:

The people behind the papers
The project is coordinated by a team of Unisa post-graduate students. The project wishes to convey the human element behind research in psychology and invites researchers to share their experiences and contribute interviews.

MathsEdge
The primary focus of MathsEdge is to contribute to the development of mathematical science, engineering and technology education in South Africa as well as to the future of high school learners. This is a resource for students, teachers and career advisers.

DCCD OER
The self-help career- and study skills resources developed by the Directorate provide a valuable starting point for meaningful conversations with individuals about their career and study concerns. These resources may be used as self-help materials. Teachers, lecturers, tutors and community practitioners could also benefit from these resources as a way to empower themselves so that they could empower others.

Introduction to Career Conversations is a video to illustrate a best-practice approach to conducting a career conversation with an employee to discuss career goals, career anchors, strengths and areas of development.

Music Directorate

The Directorate Music of Unisa was selected as partner together with North Carolina Central University (NCCU) and the Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus in Denmark, to, through the SUNY   Global Centre in NY, develop an online course which will be launched in August/September 2012. OER University

OER University

Unisa is also an anchor partner in the OER university (OERu) project. As part of the collaboration Unisa is developing one of the prototype courses Critical Reasoning to be launched as part of OERu in the second half of 2012. Please feel free to browse the site and contribute to the discussion and work being done at OERu.

The OER university is a virtual collaboration of like-minded institutions committed to creating flexible pathways for OER learners to gain formal academic credit.
