Ms Zodwa Ntuli

Short biography
 
Ms Zodwa Ntuli is a Senior Researcher at the Institute for Open and Distance Learning at the University of South Africa (UNISA). She is also South Africa’s  Secretary of the Distance Education Association of Southern Africa (DEASA).  She is also South Africa’s Representative in the DEASA Research Committee. In 1996, Zodwa joined Unisa as a Junior Lecturer and worked in the Department of New Testament (1996-1997). She joined the ICE in 1998 as a lecturer and ODL Programmes Coordinator as well as the Academic Coordinator in the same Institute.

From August 2004 hitherto, she became the Senior Lecturer, teaching and Coordinating the CDEP and from 2005 the BAODL was added to the programmes she taught and coordinated.  She led the team that revised the CDEP and also worked on the accreditation of all the CDEP study materials according to the SAQA requirements.  She introduces in the ICE, the Induction Programme for new staff members. She taught and managed the CDEP and the BAODL (in the then Institute for Continuing Education- Unisa) for 9 years.  She was also an Academic Coordinator in ICE.  She formed part of the team which designed and developed study materials for the BA ODL (on learner support in ODL).

She is also the former Acting Director of the ICE-Unisa which has now become the IODL.  Zodwa represents the IODL in different Committees, including Training and Development for Staff, STC: Education.

My personal research interest

Zodwa’s areas of interest are ODL and learner support, practice and management.
She has been a lecturer and ODL programmes Coordinator at Unisa for 13 year.  She led organising of conferences for both DEASA and the Black Forum.  She is the member of NADEOSA.  She is the Executive Treasurer of UNISA’s Black Forum since 2006. She has read research papers and chaired sessions in the NADEOSA and Black Forum Conferences

Current research projects:

She is currently working on her DEd.  Title: Management of Learner Support at the University of South Africa. 

Publications:

Ms Ntuli has a Masters degree in Education Management.  The title of her thesis reads thus:  Managing Open and Distance Learning in Higher Education: Aligning Students’ needs and expectations with institutional requirements.
